When Starbase 28 is attacked, Cadet Thira Sidhu is given care of a mutinous prisoner: Captain Christopher Pike of the Enterprise. Pike tries to pressure Sidhu into releasing him, but she refuses. He then reveals it is a simulated test that Sidhu has passed, allowing her to join the crew of the Enterprise.
